Dr. Brian Curtice

Dr. Brian Curtice, affectionately known as Dr. BC, is not only an expert in unraveling the mysteries of paleontology, but he is also the go-to paleo expert for a collection of upcoming Dinosaur Trips’ adventures. Dr. BC brings his infectious enthusiasm for all things prehistoric to the Dinosaur Trips experience.

Dr. Brian Curtice poses with a theropod skull.

He’s got no problem delving into the complex landscapes of multi-syllabic terminology, effortlessly navigating the intricacies of supraprezygapophyseal laminae within the sauropodomorpha, before effectively explaining to the rest of us just what exactly that all means.

And Dr. Curtice is no ordinary academic; he’s a dynamic presenter who can fluently translate the wonders of paleontology to captivate audiences of all ages, no matter how much – or how little – dinosaur knowledge you bring to the experience.

Unlike many in academia, Dr. Curtice isn’t confined to the traditional lecture hall. He’s a seeker, delving into private collections, hunting through countless drawers in labs and research centers, getting hands on with fossils kept behind locked doors at museums, and collaborating closely with the dynamic community of paleontologists, each contributing to ongoing and thrilling discoveries.

As the founder of Fossil Crates, he’s embraced the wonders of artistry and technology to help make the prehistoric world accessible to everyone through exquisite fossil casts. Now, he’s helping to make paleontology and dinosaur research all the more tangible and experiential for anyone thrilled by intellectual exploration as he leads a collection of authentically immersive Dinosaur Trips experiences in 2024.

Amy Atwater

Amy Atwater is a paleontologist, science communicator, avid hiker, and all-around fossil aficionado.

Amy’s journey into the world of paleontology started in the wilds of Oregon, where she found herself captivated by the ancient treasures of the John Day Fossil Beds. Since then, she’s been on a relentless quest to unearth fossils never before seen by human eyes.

But Amy’s not just out there digging in the dirt – with degrees in geology and anthropology from the University of Oregon and a master’s from the University of Texas at Austin, Amy’s academic prowess is nothing short of impressive. Oh, and did we mention she’s named not one, not two, but three new species of early primates?

Amy has worked as seasonal ranger at some of the most iconic National Parks in the United States and she was also was the Paleontology Collections Manager at Museum of the Rockies where she managed the largest collection of T. rex and Triceratops fossils in the entire world.

Amy has also delved deep into the world of mammal evolution, publishing groundbreaking research on everything from primates to bone-crushing dogs. And as if that wasn’t enough, she’s also a fierce advocate for women in science. Ever since she cracked open Tracy Chevalier’s ‘Remarkable Creatures’ as a teenager, she’s been head over heels for Mary Anning’s story, co-founding the Mary Anning’s Revenge blog and the Weird & Dead podcast, along with her friend Meaghan, to shed light on some of the unsung heroes of paleontology, and get a little weird with it all.

When she’s not working on a paleontology project, Amy enjoys hiking and camping with her family. Living in Colorado provides ample trails for her to explore with her husband and baby boy. She’s currently a director at Dinosaur Ridge in Colorado, the number one dinosaur track site in the United States.

Join Dinosaur Trips and Amy Atwater as she brings her expertise and experience to an unforgettable adventure in 2025!
