Jurassic Coast, England

WALK IN MARY ANNING'S FOOTSTEPS ALONG THE UK'S LEGENDARY JURASSIC COAST

June 12–19, 2026

A pale morning mist settles over England’s Jurassic Coast as the sea exhales against 185 million years of stone. Cliffs streaked in ochre and cream rise behind the pebble beaches of Lyme Regis, the same shores where Mary Anning once carried her hammer and a restless curiosity that would change science forever.

From June 12-19, 2026, you’ll walk these same beaches on an 8-day, small-group journey led by paleontologist, podcast host, and author Amy Atwater. Amy’s infectious passion for fossils and the stories they hold has made her one of Dinosaur Trips’ most sought-after leaders.

This year, we’ve timed the expedition to coincide with the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival, when this seaside town becomes a vibrant gathering place for leading fossil experts, hands-on activities, and special exhibits.

Over eight days, you’ll explore cliffside trails, uncover freshly exposed fossils, and walk in the footsteps of Mary Anning. Along the way, you’ll visit museums and collections that illuminate Earth’s ancient story, wander through charming seaside villages, and savour the food, drink, and character that define this remarkable coast. It’s an active, immersive journey for anyone drawn to prehistory, geology, or the simple beauty of a rugged shoreline.
